COLCHESTER Officers' Club A have started their Stringers World Colchester and District Tennis League Men's premier division season with a convincing 8-1 victory against Dedham A.
In division one, Lexden Hill A pushed unbeaten league leaders Wivenhoe A close but went down 5-4.
In the same division, a strong Lexden Rackets and Fitness Club A defeated Officers' Club B, 9-0.
Dedham B were victorious against a struggling Little Clacton in division two and Kirby A remain unbeaten after defeating Frinton B, 6-3.
Wivenhoe B made it four wins out of four in division three with a hard-fought 5-4 win against second-placed Kirby B.
Wivenhoe's third pair, Len Jarman and Luis Vasconcelos, won all their three sets in a match, played in difficult conditions.
In the Ladies premier division, Lexden Hill have responded to a poor start by winning their next two matches, 8-1 against Lexden R&F Club A and 9-0 against the Essex B.
The Essex A are the unbeaten leaders following a 9-0 defeat of Frinton A.
Similarly, in division one, Lexden R&F Club B are undefeated after four matches, the latest a 9-0 victory against Frinton B.
The Essex D were beaten 6-3 at home by Wivenhoe, in division three.
Dedham B managed their first victory of the season after beating previously-unbeaten Essex E, 5-4.
Caroline Weston and Sam Harty starred for Dedham and were undefeated on the night.
Spring Lane C remain top of division five, despite losing 6-3 to the Officers' Club C.
In Mixed League division two, Frinton B inflicted a first defeat on Dedham B and Lexden R&F Club B won 7-2 against the Essex C.
Danny Burridge and Zoe Knight won all three sets for Spring Lane B.
But they could not prevent their side from going down 5-4 in their division three top-of-the-table clash with the Officers' Club B.
However, they still remain top, in a close-fought league.
