COLCHESTER Rugby Club suffered their third straight defeat after losing 21-14 in their National League Three encounter at home to Dorking.

Anthony O’Riordan’s side were hoping for their first victory of the season, having lost their opening two encounters against Guernsey and Shelford.

However, it was not to be at Mill Road.

Colchester took the lead through a converted try but the visitors soon levelled and then added a second try and conversion to lead 14-7.

That was the score at half-time and another converted try after the break stretched Dorking’s lead to 21-7.

Colchester threw themselves a lifeline thanks to a try from Matt Wadling, converted by James Crozier.

However, there was no further addition to the scoresheet and so the hosts were defeated.
