COLCHESTER coach Anthony O’Riordan is focusing on getting his own house in order ahead of this weekend’s visit of Bracknell.

The Mill Road side will be looking to pick up a second win in National League division three London and South East tomorrow.

The visitors are one place and one point above them in the table, sitting in 11th with seven points.

Bracknell have the same record as Colchester, with one win from five games, and are separated by one bonus point, three compared to their hosts’ two.

O’Riordan’s side will be looking to turn narrow defeats into victories, with 18-16 and 15-13 losses against Wimbledon and Chichester, respectively, sandwiching a 26-8 win against Eton Manor.

And it is another step into the unkown again this weekend for Colchester.

ORiordan said: “We don’t know a lot about Bracknell, but what we do know is that they are quite tasty in the back three.

“I think they have a similar record to us – so it should be a good game.

“At the moment I haven’t been focusing on the table and haven’t looked at it this week.

“We want to get our own house in order.

“It is like we said last season, we can only control our game.

“We have been working a lot on defence in training this week.”

Colchester will be boosted by the return of influential number ten David Higgins for the Bracknell game as well as a number of players returning from injury.

Also O’Riordan is still searching for the right mix for his Colchester side.

He said: “We will have David Higgins back at outside-half and that is a boost.

“Harrison Pickett will be joining his brothers Liam and Ollie in the side.

“And we will try Brett Cutbush at scrum half.

“We haven’t found the stability in the side I am looking for yet.

“Our performances, though, have been getting better.

“I am just looking to try and get the right combination.

“It has to sit right in my gut and it hasn’t been quite right yet.”
