Roy Keane has admitted being disappointed and frustrated after failing to land his two main summer targets.
The Ipswich Town boss says it is unlikely the pair will join and expects to start the campaign with the squad that finished 15th in last season’s Championship.
Keane was speaking yesterday, on the day his players reported back for pre-season training, and although no names were mentioned it seems he was referring to Michael Chopra and Shaun Derry.
Town have been unable to prize striker Chopra away from Cardiff City while former Crystal Palace skipper Derry has joined QPR.
“I spoke to two players that were keen to come here but we couldn’t do the deals,” said Keane.
“We’re disappointed but I’m looking forward to working with the players we had last year and we just get on with it."
