GARRY Kimble has made a surprise return to Witham Town.

The 56-year-old, who was in charge at Spa Road during the most successful period in the club's history between 2011 and 2016, has been appointed first-team manager at the Pitching In Isthmian League division north club with immediate effect.

Kimble guided Witham to two promotions in three seasons, during his first spell with the club.

The former Great Wakering Rovers, Tilbury and Burnham Ramblers boss replaces Chris Taylor, who has decided to leave the club with immediate effect.

Kimble, who played for the likes of Charlton Athletic, Fulham and Dagenham and Redbridge during his professional career, will be assisted by Mark Hawkes.

Hawkes has extensive management experience in non-league football at Chelmsford City, Heybridge Swifts and Bishop's Stortford.

Witham have thanked Taylor for his work at the club.
