In Thurlow Nunn League first division south, HALSTEAD TOWN claimed a 3-1 win over lowly Brimsdown to move back to the top of the table.

Halstead took the lead through Jake Brown, who sent the ball into the net from 40 yards from Brimsdown keeper's poor clearance.

And the hosts added to their lead five minutes later when Adam Hampson pounced on a poor defensive header and smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

It was 3-0 just after the half hour mark when the visitors failed to clear a long throw and Greg Strong slammed home at the back post.

Brimsdown pulled a goal back through Gjini early in the second half but Halstead claimed victory.

WIVENHOE TOWN ran out emphatic 8-1 winners at Newbury Forest.
