LITTLE OAKLEY'S superb run in this season's FA Cup continued today after they ran out impressive 2-1 winners over Kirkley and Pakefield.

The Acorns will now be eagerly awaiting Monday's draw, following their victory in the first qualifying round tie at the Memorial Ground.

Danny Garrad's penalty and Greg Rodger's well-taken strike put Oakley in charge against their Thurlow Nunn League opponents.

The visitors pulled a goal back late on but Matt Carmichael's side held firm to march on, in the competition.

 

BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT lost 3-2 at Leiston, to bow out of the competition.

Lewis Byrne-Hewitt gave the R's an early lead and Max Booth doubled it, midway through the first half.

But former Maldon and Tiptree striker Adam Mills pulled a goal back for the hosts before half-time, before Brendan Ocran equalised after the break.

Mills then grabbed Leiston's winner with 14 minutes remaining to send Leiston through to the second qualifying round for the eighth successive year.

In the Essex Senior League, FC CLACTON beat Sawbridgeworth Town 3-1.

Goals from Charlie Thompson, Mekhi McKenzie and Jenson Mulqueen secured the Seasiders a hard-fought victory, at The Austin Arena.

STANWAY ROVERS missed the chance to go top when they lost 2-1 at West Essex, on Friday night.

In Thurlow Nunn League first division south, WIVENHOE TOWN were beaten 2-0 at Wormley Rovers while HARWICH AND PARKESTON lost by the same scoreline, at Benfleet.

But HALSTEAD TOWN overcame a two-goal deficit to win 4-2 against Frenford.

Goals from Adam Hampson (2), Nick Miller and Calvin Poku secured victory for Mark McLean's side, at the Milbank Stadium.

HOLLAND FC were 2-0 winners at Coggeshall United.
