Former Southampton defender Richard Hall will take charge of Colchester United's reserve team games this season.

Hall, who has spent the last 12 months coaching the U's Centre of Excellence players, will take charge of the club's second-string side, following Joe Dunne's elevation to first team assistant manager.

The 38-year-old, who also represented the likes of West Ham United and Scunthorpe United during a successful playing career, has been appointed as Colchester's new development coach.

In addition to leading the reserves, the role will also see Hall provide a link between the first team and youth team set-ups at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, working closely alongside the U's Head of Youth, Tony Humes.
