AHEAD of England’s Euro 2020 opener against Croatia this afternoon, the Gazette picks out five former U’s players who have been involved for their countries in major tournaments.

GLEN KAMARA

KAMARA made six league and cup appearances for Colchester United in the 2016-17 season, on loan from Arsenal.

The midfielder, who is currently plying his trade for newly-crowned Scottish Premiership champions Glasgow Rangers, featured in Finland’s 1-0 win over Denmark on Saturday.

TEDDY SHERINGHAM

SHERINGHAM, who played for Colchester in the 2007-08 season, enjoyed a decorated career and won 51 caps for England, scoring 11 times.

Perhaps the former Spurs and Manchester United striker’s most memorable moment for the Three Lions was scoring twice in a memorable 4-1 win over Holland in Euro 96.

Sheringham also featured for England at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups.
