Sean Murray is likely to be sidelined for Colchester United's clash with Carlisle United, on Saturday.

But the U's are optimistic that the midfielder's ankle injury is not as bad as first feared.

Murray suffered the injury in the opening minutes of the second half of Colchester's 2-0 win over Newport County, last weekend.

It had been feared that the former Watford midfielder could be sidelined for some time but he has shown improvement this week and is only expected to be out for 'weeks rather than months'.

Meanwhile, winger Brennan Dickenson is set to step up his recovery when the U's under-23s host Burnley's under-23s tomorrow, in the Premier League Cup.

Dickenson is expected to play an hour in the match and if that happens, it will be the longest he has played in a match since returning to training following a serious knee injury suffered, last April.
