David Fox could be set for a return to Colchester United after training with the club this week.

The silky midfielder, who played 18 league games for the U's during a brief spell at the Weston Homes Community Stadium in the 2009-10 season, is a free agent and trained at Florence Park today.

Fox left Colchester in June 2010 to join former U's boss Paul Lambert at Norwich City and clocked up more than 60 appearances for the Norfolk club.

The 30-year-old, who enjoyed a loan spell at Barnsley last season and had been training with Preston North End, is now looking for a new club and is now training with the U's.

Manager Tony Humes said: "David has come down and is going to train with us for a while. "It will be a good chance for us to look at him and him to look at us and we'll see what happens after that."
