LEE Purdy is lining up another shot at the Commonwealth Welterweight title.
The 25-year-old Colchester boxer knows that a rematch of his epic fight against Denton Vassell is on the cards in September, but he has to get past Chris Johnson in Saturday night first.
Purdy will be putting his English Welterweight title on the line as he faces Johnson at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.
And the former Thomas Lord Audley pupil knows a successful outcome will set up another shot at the Commonwealth crown.
Vassell won the prize on a judges’ decision in a gripping and epic encounter with Purdy in 2010, but it was a fight that could have gone either way and the Colchester man wants to set the record straight.
Purdy said: “As long as this fight against Chris Johnson goes according to plan I know I’ll be facing Denton Vassell in a rematch for the Commonwealth title and that’s a massive incentive for me.”
