Magnus Okuonghae has been offered a new contract by Colchester United.

And the powerful U’s defender says he is keen to commit his future to the club.

Okuonghae is out of contract this summer but was offered a new deal by the U’s last month.

The 26-year-old admits there are still some issues to iron out before he puts pen to paper on any new contract at Colchester.

But Okuonghae has stressed that he is keen to stay at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and believes the club have a bright future.

He said: “I’ve been offered a new contract.

“But these things take time and there’s work to be done.

“There’s some negotiating to be done but I love it at Colchester.

“There’s a new training ground on the way and we’ll see.

“I’m not 17 anymore without any responsibilities and everything has to be right.

“But it’s no secret and I really enjoy being at Colchester.

“I’ve played since I’ve been here and I would love to be a part of the future success at this club.

“The club is going in the right direction and it’s a great place to play football, make no mistake about that.”
