Colchester United will be without leading goalscorer Anthony Wordsworth for their Boxing Day game against Stevenage.

The midfielder will serve a one-match suspension after picking up his fifth booking of the season during the U’s 1-0 win at Hartlepool United, last weekend.

Wordsworth’s place in midfield is likely to go to either skipper Kem Izzet or John-Joe O’Toole, who were both on the bench for the Pools game.

Aside from Wordsworth’s suspension, Colchester have no fresh selection worries ahead of their first-ever senior game against Stevenage.

Defender Pat Baldwin is pushing for a recall after completing 90 minutes for the reserves against West Ham United, earlier this week.

However, winger Ashley Vincent is still sidelined with a hamstring injury.
