Matthias Vilhjalmsson has left Colchester United and returned to Iceland after being recalled by his parent club FH.
The 24-year-old forward will start pre-season training in his native country, after making just three substitute appearances for the U's.
Vilhjalmsson, who is a full Iceland international, initially arrived at Colchester on trial, last November.
He joined them on loan in January but his opportunities have been limited at the npower League One club and he has now left the U's.
