Striker Clive Platt has left Colchester United to join former manager Aidy Boothroyd at Coventry City.

The 32-year-old has quit the Weston Homes Community Stadium to join the npower Championship club.

Platt signed for Colchester in the summer of 2007 for a then club record fee of £300,000.

He was sent off in his first game, a friendly against Bolton Wanderers at Layer Road but scored on his U's league debut at Sheffield United.

Platt clocked up nearly 150 league and cup appearances for Colchester, scoring 27 times.

He was a regular under Boothroyd for Colchester last season.

And the lofty front-man clearly made a big impression on the former U's boss, prompting him to lure him to the Ricoh Arena.
