Connor Wickham had no hesitation in signing his first professional contract at Ipswich Town.

The 17-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal – ending months of speculation about him being poached by one of the Barclays Premier League giants.

The former Colchester schoolboy admitted it was a straightforward decision and said: “It wasn’t difficult and the only thing I had on my mind was Ipswich.

“It was always the place I wanted to be and that was clear in my mind, my family’s mind and my agent’s mind.

“It’s an honour to have signed for them."
