Aidy Boothroyd is confident that Colchester United can still make the Coca-Cola League One play-offs – despite their disappointing recent run of form.

The U's 2-0 defeat at Exeter City has left them without a win in seven matches and they will drop out of the top-six if Huddersfield Town beat struggling Wycombe Wanderers this afternoon.

Colchester have seven games left to seal a play-off place.

And boss Boothroyd believes there is ample time to turn things around.

He said: “We have got plenty of games left to do that and we're still in with a shout.

“I'm disappointed and frustrated but the last thing I'm going to do now is start pointing fingers.

“We have to stick together and come through it.

“Every team has a wobbly patch and we're having ours now.

“It's the wrong time but I'd rather have it now than in five games time.

“I don't ever question the character of any of the players at all.”

Colchester are back in action on Easter Monday when they play host to fellow promotion-chasers Millwall at the Weston Homes Community Stadium (kick-off 1pm).

“We have a big game on Monday but they are all big games now because we've put ourselves in that position,” added Boothroyd.

“It's not panic stations – definitely not.

“Of course we're disappointed but we'll be back and that's part of what my teams tend to do.”
