Head groundsman David Blacknall is “very optimistic” that Colchester United’s sell-out clash with Norwich City will go ahead on Saturday.
Snow and sleet have battered the Weston Homes Community Stadium pitch over recent weeks.
Blacknall and his assistant Steve Parker, along with a number of U’s fans, have battled the elements to help clear the pitch of the snow.
But with temperatures expected to climb in north Essex hopes are high that there will be no problems with the playing surface, ahead of the big game.
