A season of injury nightmares haunted Sarah Claxton’s bid for a place in the final of the women's 100 metre hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin.
The 29-year-old from Colchester had battled against back and Achilles problems but finished joint last in her semi-final in 13.21 seconds.
“That was a messy run,” said Claxton, who was a finalist at last year’s Olympics in Beijing .
“I hit a hurdle – I think it was the seventh or eighth – and I just couldn’t get it back from there. I was really hyped up for this – more so than in my heat, but I just didn’t have it.”
