Jon Walters is on schedule to be fit for the start of pre-season training.

The Ipswich Town midfielder suffered an ankle injury towards the end of last term.

However, he is progressing well and will have a scan early next month.

“We’ll know the severity of the bone bruising then and he’ll see a specialist,” said Blues physiotherapist Matt Byard.

“It’s expected that he’ll be able to start some jogging at that stage and by the end of next month it’s hoped he’ll be taking part in football drills.

“Providing there are no hold-ups along the way, Jon should be able to return to pre-season training at the same time as the other players.”
