Paul Lambert has said it is essential he makes changes if Colchester United are to be a force in Coca-Cola League One.
The U’s boss (pictured) has held meetings with each of his squad members, as he plans for the forthcoming campaign.
Some players have been told that they will not be guaranteed a regular starting place.
Lambert has stressed to them that he will not stand in their way if they receive offers from other clubs.
He told the Gazette: “I spoke to every player and I told them what I thought.
“I’ve told some lads that it’s probably better for them to move on and they’ve been fine.
“I’ve told the lads to speak to their agents and we will try and move it from there.
“I don’t want to stop anybody’s career.
“If they’re not going to play here, it’s better for football reasons that they go and play somewhere else.”
