Bring on the Robins!

Striker Clive Platt said tonight’s clash with struggling Swindon Town cannot come soon enough for Colchester United.

The U’s head into the match at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on the back of a four-match unbeaten run.

And Platt said he and his team-mates cannot wait for the chance to draw nearer to the play-off places, in Coca-Cola League One.

He told the Gazette: “When games come thick and fast and you’re on a losing run, you feel tired and upset and not looking forward to them as much.

“But when you’re on a run picking up points, you want the games to come thick and fast.

“We don’t want the breaks – we just want to keep this run going.

“We’ve now gone four matches unbeaten and it’s important that we win games and not draw them.”

Platt hit a fine winner for Colchester in their 1-0 win at Oldham Athletic last weekend.

It was the lofty striker’s sixth goal of the season, all of which have been scored away from the Community Stadium.

“I’ve had a few chances I should have done better with at home,” admitted Platt, who tonight will be reunited with Swindon boss Danny Wilson, who signed him for MK Dons in 2005.

“There’s been some where I’ve headed towards the back post and they’ve either been cleared off the line or the goalkeeper has saved.

“At the time, it’s frustrating.

“But as long as we pick up the points, that’s the main thing.

“I’m sure I’ll get a few more chances at home between now and the end of the season and it’s up to me to put them way.”
