Colchester United have completed the permanent signing of defender Marc Tierney.

The 23-year-old has been in impressive form for the U's since joining them on loan from Coca-Cola League Two club Shrewsbury Town.

And after the transfer window opened yesterday, Colchester boss Paul Lambert has wasted no time in making the move a permanent one.

Tierney has moved to the U's for an undisclosed fee and becomes Lambert's second permanent signing, following the arrival of former Leeds defender Alan Maybury last month.
