Paul Lambert has bolstered his striker options by signing Jermaine Easter on loan.
The Colchester United boss has signed the Plymouth Argyle striker until January.
Wales international Easter had previously been on loan at Millwall and played for Lambert at Wycombe Wanderers.
The 26-year-old goes straight into the U’s squad for their trip to play Peterborough United tomorrow.
Easter said: “I enjoyed my time at Millwall but got sent off and missed games and the lads who came in did well.
“The manager (Kenny Jackett) wanted to keep the team as it was and I respect that decision, but that was not good for me because I want games and to score goals.
“I worked with Paul Lambert at Wycombe and he knows me and I know him.
“It’s a good match-up and that is why I am happy to come to Colchester.”
Colchester have used five strikers this season.
But so far, Steven Gillespie, Clive Platt, Sunday Wasiu, Scott Vernon and loanee Sam Williams have just nine goals between them.
Manager Lambert, who has ruled out a move for Jamie Cureton, has hinted that there will be changes for the U’s trip to play in-form Peterborough in Coca-Cola League One tomorrow.
Colchester will be hoping to get on the winning trail after back-to-back defeats at London Road against in-form Posh.
“When you win the team picks itself but when it goes bad, players will look over their shoulders,” said Lambert.
“I want that to happen – I don’t want the players to be in the comfort zone.
“If you have hungry players, you will go a long way.
“Colchester United has been a struggling club since the start of the season.
“The players have been battered and bruised for long enough.
“There had been negativity before I came in – I have only been here four or five weeks and I sensed the confidence was low.
“But the effort of the players since I’ve been here has been terrific.”
Lambert comes face-to-face with a fellow Glaswegian tomorrow in Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson.
And the U’s manager has a lot of respect for his Posh counterpart.
“Darren has done fine there,” added Lambert.
“He is a really good lad and I have a lot of time for him.
“Peterborough did really well last year and they have done well this season so it’ll be a really tough game.”
Midfielder Kem Izzet is set to return after missing the U’s defeat against Walsall with a shoulder problem.
Chris Coyne is also in contention after returning from international duty with Australia.
But Gillespie (hamstring), Paul Reid (toe) and Matt Lockwood (knee) are all still out.
