LONG-SERVING midfielder Kem Izzet believes Colchester United’s players cannot afford to dwell on Geraint Williams’ departure as the club’s manager.
The curtain came down on Williams’ spell with the U’s on Monday, following a poor start to the new Coca-Cola League One campaign.
U’s chairman Robbie Cowling and his fellow board members are currently on the lookout for a new boss.
While that search continues, Izzet has insisted that he and his team-mates have to try to be as professional as possible.
He told the Gazette: “Football is one of those businesses which is very cut throat.
“The manager has gone but life still goes on.
“It’s sad to see him go.
“It was a little bit unexpected and I didn’t think the stick he was given was justified.
“We have to take some responsibility if we are not performing on the pitch.
“But in any situation, the manager also knows he has to take some responsibility.”
