Nations Unite celebration held at University of Essex

The Nations Unite event was held at the University of Essex’s Colchester campus, centred around two top-flight Essex Rebels volleyball matches.

Fans enjoyed a vibrant programme of live entertainment and family-friendly activities.

Diana Voynova, manager of the Essex Rebels, said: "Events like Nations Unite show what the Essex Rebels are about, high-quality sport, inclusivity and unforgettable family experiences.

"We’re determined to keep building on this momentum, keep pushing for trophies, and keep making volleyball in Essex something everyone can enjoy."

Highlights from the day included a live DJ, dance performances, and Colchester Zoological Society giveaways.

The Tamil Society, Essex Flames cheerleaders, and a flag parade celebrating nations from around the world added to the excitement.

The sporting showcase featured a Super League double-header, with both the men’s and women’s Rebels teams taking on the Newcastle Knights.

The men lost narrowly by 2-3, while the women lost 1-3.

Despite the defeats, the crowd remained in high spirits and cheered on both teams throughout the day.

The event builds on a record-breaking year for the Rebels, with the Rebels securing the highest ever-attendance for a volleyball game.
