COLCHESTER United were beaten 2-0 at league leaders Stockport County, on Saturday afternoon.

Goals either side of half-time from Kyle Wootton and Callum Camps secured the Hatters' victory at Edgeley Park, as Matty Etherington tasted defeat in his first game as the U's permanent boss.

Here are the Gazette player ratings, following Colchester's defeat at Stockport.

OWEN GOODMAN 6

Showed some good handling and had little chance of stopping either of Stockport goals

WILL GREENIDGE 6

Might feel he could have reacted quicker in build up to Stockport’s opener although it looked offside

TOM DALLISON 6

Showed his experience at the heart of the Colchester defence in the absence of Hall

ZACH MITCHELL 7

Tried desperately to keep Wootton out for Stockport’s goal and was a solid performer

Gazette:

MANDELA EGBO 7

Produced a competent display in the Colchester defence and generally kept the hosts’ attack quiet

ARTHUR READ 7

Took responsibility as usual in midfield and did his best to stifle a confident Stockport side

CAMERON MCGEEHAN 7

U’s man of the match. Went close with a long-range first-half effort and showed composure

Gazette:

JAY MINGI 6

Made some good interceptions and challenges and worked hard before being replaced

NOAH CHILVERS 7

U’s skipper was a tidy performer; proved a threat for Colchester on the counter attack

JAYDEN FEVRIER 7

Showed flashes of his skill and delivered some decent crosses into the danger area

SAMSON TOVIDE 6

Was unlucky not to score with a brilliant backheel and was denied by Hinchliffe in the second half. Relished his battle with Horsfall. Booked
