In a thoroughly entertaining game that was played at Park Drive in Maldon, the U’s fought back superbly to secure a high-scoring 5-5 draw.
Colchester's goals cane from Samson Uwandu, Andrew Palmer-Brown, Bradley Chakawa and an own goal.
There were seven goals scored in an action pack first half and after being level at 2-2, they then conceded twice as they had no answer to Swans striker, Iwan Morgan who netted four times.
The visitors’ lead was gained at 3-2 after 39 minutes and extended two minutes later, but the U’s got a third in first-half stoppage time 45+1 minutes.
After the break, the visiting trialist made it 5-3 with a superb strike on 53 minutes before Colchester started their recovery.
Just after the hour mark, Rohan Davies replaced Sam Parker, just prior to Colchester making it 5-4 on 65 minutes.
Ten minutes from time they levelled it at 5-5 with ten minutes to go.
Another Welsh sub saw Thomas Woodward on for Yori Griffith.
