COLCHESTER United claimed a superb 1-0 win at Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup, on Tuesday night.

Luke Hannant's first-half goal proved enough to clinch the U's victory and seal their place in the second round draw, which takes place tonight.

Colchester had nearly 1,500 fans at Portman Road to see their side's win - here are their views on the game.

After that disappointment of losing to a poor Man U in QF in 2019 we’re going all the way this year!!

Anthony Clachan

Just worry that Junior will be off to bigger things by the close of the transfer window

Absolutely incredible, best defensive performance I’ve seen in absolutely ages. And big mentions to nouble, Kazeem and Hannant for some Amazing performances. UP THE U’S

Chris

My thoughts is instantly regretting saying I’ll get Luke Hannant tattooed on my arse, but other than that only good thoughts

Ipswich and McKenna were tactically outwitted by Wayne Brown. Ipswich brought their big guns on with 20 mins left but it was too late. Gutsy and committed performance by all the team. Possession wins you nothing. Never thought I'd see us win at Portman Rd

Martyn Hooper

Absolutely wonderful Jon! A tactically astute performance combined with alot of courage. Football has come home to Essex

That’s how you play a cup tie, backs to the wall and dig deep, but passion and effort won the day. What a game.

Followed from a tent in Jotunheimen, Norway. Didn't see that coming one bit great result against a well fancied side a division higher, when do the Premier league teams come in?

Unreal

Absolutely amazingly played tactically by Wayne brown and co. A deep 4-4-2 in that second half was perfect. Bringing on the wing backs to play in front of the full backs when ipswich are playing all out wide and every ball over the top they try is headed wide and clear by mostly Eastman, and by chambers too sometimes. It gave them a lot less chances than they would have gotten, could have easily faced another 10-15 shots had we not played like that. Never been a great fan of low blocks, and theyre not entertaining, but in the crowd tonight it was absolutely amazing to see. What a game, what a night. Thank you Wayne Brown and the team

Strong performance full of determination. The young players all showed great mentality & stepped up to the challenge. Unfortunately some idiots took it upon themselves to shame the club & throw seats. Sad to see frightened kids having to move. Zero tolerance required.

Tracey Welsh

A wonderful result completely destroyed by idiots. Children crying, families leaving to escape. Ipswich children crying too. People bleeding from flying seats. First win at PR since 1951, so sad the real fans could not enjoy it and were scared. Embarrassed.
