COLCHESTER United were beaten 1-0 by Forest Green Rovers at the JobServe Community Stadium, on Monday night.

Matty Stevens' ninth-minute strike gave the league leaders all three points, leaving the U's eight points above the relegation zone with eight games to play.

The game was played out in front of 6,000, as part of the club's Game for Ukraine which raised money for the British Red Cross' humanitarian appeal for Ukraine.

Colchester fans have their say on their side's defeat.

Decent 1st half, but poor 2nd half. You can't play teams like FGR carrying 2players. Kenlock and Wright offer the team nothing going forward or defensively. Chilvers and Akinde good but faded.

Adam Mason

I thought we looked decent tonight had a few chances that just didn’t fall, akinde falling into the potter mild winning the ball with no one around him missed Edwards tonight and thought Eastman and chambers looked ok too better performance than last few

Tomo

Dull ,boring ,off the pace , FGR always in control. Apart from a few minutes here and there no power whatsoever to the punch. Like a featherweight having no impact on a heavyweight. Come Saturday if a loss we really could be in sinking sand! 2 seasons of dross!

Gavin

Boring. Mundane. Flat. Dire. Most bored ive ever been watching them. Brown is not good enough

Si

Yet again we didn’t look to bad, but lacking in the final third, with not taking chances and poor decision making. Should have got at least a point. But the score line doesn’t lie and we need to improve so actually we have something to show from these games. Edwards was missed.

Poor performance toothless up front no final ball not a great advert for league 2 on tv .in front of a big crowd hopefully some of those will come again .£60000 raised fantastic effort that though

Jamie Hudson

Another shambolic performance, when every other relegation threatened team is changing managers to save their season we continue with an “interim” manager who clearly was never brought in temporarily. Didn’t look like scoring, FGR cruised through the game

Duncan Stonehouse

One meaningful attack in the entire second half when we were meant to be chasing the game was really disappointing. Didn’t take our opportunities to get shots away quickly enough, and the fascination with leaving one up front isn’t getting us anywhere.

Poor second half performance, thought we were okay first half but no more. Coxe forced to play deep all night, Eastman can’t play to the left of central defence and we missed the attacking play of Edwards to open things up. Tough game ahead Saturday so need to bounce back.

Michael O'Brien

Team looked sluggish and in a number of cases tired or not fit enough. Lost the ball too easily. Powder puff up front and our full backs too slow at getting forward. Usual slow start and stupid defensive mistake left us with a hill to climb. One upside- money raised for Ukraine.

Craig Dees

If I had missed the 1st 10 mins I would have thought we were winning. There was no urgency, no pressing they had loads of space when they had the ball happy to sit back even when we were losing

Found having 6k+ fans there more rewarding than anything. Seeing lots of fans just walking up the street to the stadium actually made it feel like a club again. Despite a 1-0 loss the team played well.

Boylan

Not good enough. Poor goal to give away. Never looked like scoring. Some of the passing was U10’s Sunday league at best. Good to see some fans in the stands. Shame it took a war for it to happen. Great cause.

Liam

Ball watching for most of the game and when we did get forward we done nothing! I don’t think their keeper had a save to make all game. Decent attendance but we’ll be back to the 2.8k mark again on Saturday.

We could of had 15 players on that pitch jon boy and still be chasing shadows! Only positive was the money raised!

James

thought we were okay. Far too slow both on and off the ball though. The ref didn’t seem to brilliant. Decent turnout for a really good cause too

Anthony Clachan

Poor up front, very boring, nearly fell asleep at one point watching it same tactics and approach every game and it's very dire to watch

Gazette:

Fans were brilliant tonight. Brown out! Not good enough, very very painful to watch, never even looked like scoring!

Daniel D

Very slow. Passing was poor. Had a few attacks but not much else. Good turn out for a great cause which is the main thing.

Chris

Neutral here...U's could've nicked one but FGR controlled it, despite being below par winning 1 in 8, fair result would've been U's 1 FGR 3.

A sloppy goal to give away, overall I thought they played well , unlucky with Tchamadeu.

Piers

We didn't play well tonight. We showed the whole country on sky why we are where we are in the league. However even though FGR are first they didn't play like at top of the league side either.

Les McKee

need a new goalkeeper for next season and @NachoMB1 would be a great signing :)

Freddie Emerson

Shocking upfront but we fought all the way which is nice to see. We are slowly getting better but I still feel we are a long way from safety still
