COLCHESTER United's under-18s are up to second in the Professional Development League Two table after winning 4-0 at Swansea City, writes BRIAN WALLER.

Liam Bailey's side took the lead just after the quarter hour mark when Kai Redgrave intercepted Jada Mawongo’s pass and then curled his shot past home keeper Tyler Evans.

The Swans' response on 24 minutes saw some good play by Corey Hurford who found space in the box for himself but then fired his shot wide.

Two minutes later and it got even better for the U’s as full-back Matt Yates put his side 2-0 ahead after 26 minutes.

It was an advantage that the visitors held until half-time.

There was a home change at the break as Dan Watts replaced Jada Mawongo.

But five minutes later, there was a third goal for Colchester as after Evans had made the save, Kacy Parish was on hand to tap in the rebound five minutes after the break.

And just before the hour mark, the U’s wrapped up their comprehensive victory thanks to a second goal of the afternoon for Redgrave.
