COLCHESTER United battled back against the odds to claim a 1-1 draw with Swindon Town on Saturday afternoon, despite finishing with only nine men.

Emyr Huws' stoppage-time equaliser cancelled out Harry McKirdy's strike, as an eventful contest at the JobServe Community Stadium finished all square.

A point that feels like a win. Great fight shown and more of that will be needed before this season is over. Cowling sacking Mullins may have got him off the hook again.

Typical a game I miss and it’s a cracker. Was nail biting listening to it. Shows the change in mentality, that would never have shown that heart under the last manager. Bring on Tuesday.

Duncan Stonehouse

Can’t fault them for effort or desire. Really gutsy performance & stuck at it right to the end, that summed up how Wayne Brown and Joe Dunne played. Feels like a win given the circumstances!

What a game to watch. Hard to watch at some points. When it look liked we had nothing left we fought till the end and managed to grab a point. You could see the passion within the players and management team.

We just about held our own first half, but were always struggling against Williams quality in the middle of the park and the runners taking advantage of that quality. A moment of madness by George and desperation by Chambers should have been it. But Swindon didn't go for the kill against 9 men for some bizarre reason and a 1-0 lead in football is never safe, regardless of the circumstances

Early days but on current evidence WB and JD have got the team playing with some desire and closer to its ability. Under Mullins we would have capitulated. Huws looking a shrewd signing. Getting three points against Rochdale would be a big step forward.

Different game to last week but I'll take a draw. Well done to Collins for stepping in a doing a good job, onto Tuesday

I think that audio of Neil Kelly on BBC Essex was beautiful "i don't believe it". I didn't believe it either. I'm not going to say anything about the 2 that got sent off. I'm only going to praise the 9 that pulled off what seemed impossible, That's the spirit we've been missing

So proud of the lad today to do that in added time with 9 men feels like a win. Massive shame to lose chambers and George but congratulations to Collins for making his debut. Let’s keep this form up and win on Tuesday now. It’s so nice to have positives again!

Not sure why everyone is so annoyed with the performance, we had 2 great headers that could’ve been goals on another day and swindon had chances of there own that could have been goals on there day, obviously the high line will take time to get used to but looks good so far. Sears didn’t get much service at all but Akinde looks like he could help with that, hannant was terrible as usual so hopefully we can sign 1 more top winger that has any sort of ability, dallison and chambers looked solid bar the red card and limbs at the end, happy with result

Great character. Scenes at the end BUT, with Judge & Hannant on the pitch we'd effectively been playing with 9 men from the kick off. Neither warrant their place in the squad. Unless injured, taking Wiredu off is madness. Dallison impressive again.

Michael

Wasn’t the best performance, but credit to the lads who dug in after the 2 red cards under the previous management team we would have gone on to lose that game by a couple of goals, shows the new found confidence in the team onwards and upwards.

Steve Procter

Great game, felt like a win at the end

David Fincham

Ref and linesman, wow, what an awful performance. I sat in the west stand and linesman was never up with the game with at least 3 clear off-sides not given that should have been. We kept fighting and deserved the point against one of the better teams I’ve seen at home this season

Good to get a draw against a solid side, but need to be careful, 9 meant against 11 is not easy but players left did well

Anthony Clachan

Feels like a win even though it's a draw massive result against a very good Swindon Town team Tuesday night is now a must win but we can take hope from that up the U's

Steve Green

The ground was rocking at the end for the first time in years. Great end to a great performance and what you’d expect with old favourites like Wayne Brown and Joe Dunne in charge. Cowling has played the get out of jail card a bit earlier this year but when will he learn?

Great grit & determination to grab a point against all the odds but feel it papers over the cracks of being completely outplayed by Swindon in the 2nd half before the red cards. Still a lot of work to do, but nice to see some fight and spirit from the team rather than rollover

Adam Walker

I’ll take that all day long

Tomo

Officials where absolutely diabolical. But that’s absolutely great that grit and determination. Wayne and joe totally passionate unlike previous manager and 2 I/c.
