COLCHESTER United host sixth-placed Swindon Town today, in their first home game under Wayne Brown's interim charge.

The U's are aiming to build on their 3-0 triumph at Salford City, last weekend.

From team news to line-ups, key men and the referee, all you need to know can be found below ahead of the game at the JobServe Community Stadium (kick-off 3pm).

U's team news

Colchester could hand a debut to new signing John Akinde this afternoon.

The experienced forward joined the U's on a two-and-a-half year contract on Thursday, after leaving Gillingham.

Colchester are hoping Cole Skuse (eye) and Corie Andrews (back) will be fit, after being forced off at Salford.

But skipper Tommy Smith is unavailable as he has linked up with New Zealand, on international duty.

Ryan Clampin (knee) is still out.

Colchester interim head coach Wayne Brown on picking the team: “They’re the sort of headaches that you want.

“We’ve got very little injuries at the moment, which is great.

“We’ve got quality in depth in areas so as a manager, that’s all you can ask for.

“Whilst people are away on international duty or out of the team through injury or suspension, whatever the case may be, there’s always an opportunity for somebody else to come in and earn the shirt.

“There was a couple last Saturday who did just that."

Gazette:

Colchester interim boss Wayne Brown (pictured below) on facing Swindon:

“It’s going to be a totally different game to the one that we had at Salford.

“Swindon like to play through the thirds whereas as we saw last Saturday, that wasn’t the case from Salford.

“There’s a little bit of a change in the dynamic that we’re going to be facing.

“We’ve touched on a lot of things this week that we want to do, some real key areas that we want to get joy in.

“They’re the main take-home messages from the group.

Gazette:

“Yes, we want to be solid against Swindon but it’s also important that we worry about what we’re going to do and take the game to them.

“We want to start where we left off in the (Salford) game.

“They’re good players and all they need is lots of confidence, belief and buying into what we’re doing.

“We’ve got that this week and they seem in a positive frame of mind.

“It’s important that we keep that mindset, going into not just Saturday but the games coming ahead.

“There’s been some clear and concise messages, some non-negotiables if you like.

“But more importantly, it’s just been nice to work with the group.

“It’s always nice winning an away game, especially an away game that was as tough as it was on paper.

“Salford are in a rich vein of form, especially at home.

“So it’s been a real good confidence booster for the lads and the quicker that win came, the more buy-in and positivity from the group.

“It’s been a real productive week and a good buy-in from the lads and they’ve been first class."

Predicted line-ups

Colchester United: George, Tchamadeu, Chambers, Dallison, Kenlock, Skuse, Huws, Wiredu, Hannant, Judge, Sears

Swindon Town: Ward, O'Brien, Conroy, Odimayo, Gladwin, Reed, Hunt, Williams, Iandolo, Barry, McKirdy

Opposition view

Swindon boss Ben Garner on Colchester game: "The change in manager often sees a change in style.

"They've had a clear identity this season as a strong counter-attacking team.

"We'll be well prepared for that, but we have to be ready for them to make changes after their new signings."
