COLCHESTER United host Sutton United tonight, looking to get back on track in League Two following their 3-0 defeat at Port Vale last weekend.

From team news to line-ups, key men and the referee, all you need to know can be found below ahead of the game at the JobServe Community Stadium (kick-off 7.45pm).

U's team news

Colchester will be without Brendan Wiredu (pictured below) for tonight's rearranged game against Sutton.

The talented young midfielder serves a one-match ban, after picking up a fifth booking of the season at Port Vale.

Junior Tchamadeu is still out suspended, following his red card against Bristol Rovers last week.

Ryan Clampin could return after missing the U's last three games due to Covid but the game is likely to come too soon for midfielder Alan Judge (calf).

Miles Welch-Hayes is set to start at right-back after returning from injury at Port Vale, while Sylvester Jasper is also in line for a recall.

U's boss Hayden Mullins said: “It was Miles’ first game back so we weren’t sure how he would react.

“But I think he did well and got 45 minutes under his belt, so that was a positive.

“He hasn’t had much football and you have to be careful with it, especially with a hamstring but he’s come through well."

Predicted line-ups:

Colchester: George, Welch-Hayes, Chambers, Smith, Daniels, Skuse, Chilvers, Hannant, Jasper, Sears, Nouble

Sutton: Bouzanis, Goodliffe, Milsom, Kizzi, Rowe, Barden, Boldewijn, Smith, Randall-Hurren, Wilson, Olaofe

Colchester boss Hayden Mullins (pictured below):

“At the moment, we’re coming off three games where we’ve won one, we’ve drawn one and we’ve lost one so we need to react in the right away on Tuesday and try and get a result.

“We’ve been beaten 3-0 and we have to take it on the chin and deal with it.

“We can’t linger or moan about it or mope – we got beaten by a decent side and we move on and prepare for Tuesday."

Last meeting

This is the first-ever Football League meeting between Colchester and Sutton, although they have previously met in the non-league.

The clubs last met in the FA Cup, when the U's were beaten 4-3 by the Yellows at Layer Road back in November, 1993.

Opposition view

Sutton are looking to bounce back after suffering back-to-back league defeats for the first time in almost exactly two years, following defeats against Swindon Town and Rochdale.

Sutton manager Matt Gray told the club's website: ''Colchester have got some good, experienced players in their squad and we're not expecting anything other than a very tough game again - there are no easy games in this division.''

Gray is hoping to see more Sutton fans make the trip to Colchester, following their game at Rochdale, last weekend.

He said: ''To have over 100 of our supporters there in such good voice was really appreciated by the players, and we hope to hear you all again at Colchester on Tuesday.''
