COLCHESTER United under-18s will travel to play Bugbrooke St Michael in the first round of this season's FA Youth Cup.

The U's make the trip to Northamptonshire to play the Badgers, whose senior team play in United Counties League premier division south, on November 4, kick-off 7.45pm.

Colchester's under-18s were 3-1 winners over Swansea City in their latest Professional Development League match.

It was a second league win of the season for the U’s team, as they beat their opponents from South Wales.

Swansea started well, with Aaron Hillier's chipped cross sailing just over but it was Colchester who took a sixth-minute lead.

Left wing-back Freddie Price made a superb run down the left and his cross found Kacy Parish inside the box, whose deflected shot beat the keeper.

Swansea responded well with their centre-forward's effort whistling just wide and they levelled after 17 minutes through Cameron Congreve.

After U's goakeeper Endurance Johnson dropped the ball and picked it up again to concede an indirect free kick, Congreve fired a low shot into the right hand corner of the net.

Congreve’s shot from distance flew wide while at the other end, Kaan Bennett's shot was narrowly wide of the keeper’s left-hand post.

And three minutes before half-time, Colchester restored their lead again.

A long throw by trialist A was helped on and after Parish headed back across goal, Bennett added the final touch to make it 2-1.

Substitute Kai Redgrave fired a shot just wide of the right hand post for Colchester, who looked to have made the game secured when they scored a third goal with four minutes remaining.

After efforts by Bennett and Redgrave had been blocked, the ball ran to Bradley Ihionvien who got the ball onto his left foot before putting the chance away.

A double ricochet on a shot saw Johnson dive back to grab the ball and then a Redgrave shot was nearly helped into the net by Ihionvien, as the U's pressed for a fourth.

Price's chip just cleared the bar before the end, as the U's claimed a good victory.
