THE transfer window closes at 11pm tonight, bringing to an end a hectic summer of comings and goings for Colchester United.

Ahead of the transfer deadline, the Gazette looks at where the players who were released from the JobServe Community Stadium back in May have ended up.

Gazette:

JEVANI BROWN

Brown linked up with Colchester's League Two rivals Exeter City in June.

He has made seven league and cup appearances for the Grecians to date, starting all five of their league games.

Brown made 62 league and cup appearances for Colchester, after joining them from Cambridge United in the summer of 2019.

The 26-year-old attacker scored 11 goals for the U's, all of them in this campaign.

LUKE GAMBIN

Gambin linked up with Maltese League champions Hamrun Spartans, last month.

The 28-year-old finished last season at Colchester's League Two rivals, Newport County.

Gambin signed for the U's in the summer of 2019, on a two-year deal.

The Malta international linked up with the U's when he was released by Luton Town after his contract expired at Kenilworth Road.

He made 50 appearances during his time at the JobServe Community Stadium, scoring twice.

But the former Barnet attacker found game time difficult last season and managed only 15 league starts for the U's, during the last two seasons.

TOM LAPSLIE

FORMER U's youngster Lapslie signed for National League side Torquay United, last month.

He started their first two league games but was on the bench for their 4-0 defeat by Woking at Plainmoor, on Bank Holiday Monday.

Lapslie made his senior debut for Colchester in an FA Cup third-round tie at Cardiff City, in January 2015.

He went on to become a regular in midfield, under several different managers.

The combative midfielder made 170 league and cup senior appearances for the U’s.

HARRY PELL

FORMER U's skipper Pell has started all five of Accrington Stanley's five games in League One this season, after joining them from Colchester in May.

The midfielder grabbed his first Stanley goal in their 2-1 win over Cambridge United, earlier this month.

Pell left Colchester after three years, having made nearly 100 league and cup appearances for the club.

The former Cheltenham Town midfielder, 29, spent last season as U's captain and scored 13 times.

COURTNEY SENIOR

THE winger joined Colchester's League Two rivals Newport County but is facing up to nine months on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.

The 24-year-old ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament last month and has begun a long period of rehabilitation.

Senior joined Newport on a one-year deal, last month.

He made nearly 150 league and cup appearances for the U's, scoring 14 times, after joining them from Brentford in the summer of 2016.

OMAR SOWUNMI

TOWERING defender Sowunmi signed a deal with National League side Bromley earlier this month, having spent pre-season with them.

He has made two appearances for Andy Woodman's side so far, helping them claim victory over Eastleigh on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Colchester-born centre-back, 25, struggled for game time during his time at the JobServe Community Stadium.

The 6ft 6in defender made 20 starts for the U's after joining them in the summer of 2019, from Yeovil Town.

CALLUM COULTER

FORMER Crystal Palace youngster Coulter was released by Colchester without making a senior appearance.

The young goalkeeper joined Southern League Premier Division South club Harrow Borough, earlier this month.

CALLUM HARRIOTT

EXPERIENCED winger Harriott is yet to find a new club, after leaving Colchester at the end of last season.

The former Reading and Charlton Athletic attacker was the U's leading scorer, last season.

He spent nearly two seasons at Colchester, having initially joined them on loan from Charlton in the 2015-16 season.

The 27-year-old made 64 league and cup appearances for the U's in that time, scoring 12 times.

PARIS COWAN-HALL

COWAN-HALL is yet to find his next club, after leaving Colchester in May.

The 30-year-old struggled for game time during his two-year spell with the U's, making just four league starts in that time.

JOSH BOHUI

BOHUI was released by Colchester in May, despite featuring in their final two games of last season and scoring the winner in their penultimate match against Salford.

The 22-year-old former Manchester United youngster, who spent seven months at the JobServe Community Stadium, made 15 appearances for the club, scoring once.

DIAZ WRIGHT

MIDFIELDER Wright was hampered by injuries in his final two years at Colchester.

The 23-year-old made 20 first-team appearances for the U's after rising through the academy ranks at Florence Park.

Wright underwent a knee operation last summer after aggravating an old injury and then suffered a recurrence.
