FORMER Colchester United defender Danny Collinge is training with League One club MK Dons.

The 23-year-old, who started out at the Dons, has linked up with the club this summer as he searches for a new club.

The defender is expected to be involved in the club's upcoming pre-season friendlies, for Russell Martin's side.

Collinge joined Colchester on a two-year contract in the summer of 2019.

The England youth international joined the U's on a permanent basis, having featured for their under-23 side towards the end of the 2018-19 season.

He had loan spells with Maldon and Tiptree and AFC Sudbury, during his time at Colchester.

Collinge also played regularly for the under-23s and spent time with the U's first-team squad last summer, following Steve Ball's appointment as head coach.

However, Collinge did not make a senior appearance for Colchester during his spell at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Gazette:

Collinge, who has previously played for German club VfB Stuttgart in Bundesliga II, started out at the Dons and has represented England at under-18 level.

He has made 32 England Youth appearances and played in both the under-17 European Championship and under-17 World Cup.

The centre-back returned to England after a five-year spell in Germany playing for VfB Stuttgart.

He came through the ranks at MK Dons before moving to Germany to broaden his football and academic education.
