Colchester United travel to play Bolton Wanderers in League Two at the University of Bolton Stadium this afternoon, kick-off 1pm.

The U's are looking for vital points to climb away from the relegation zone but face a Trotters side who are unbeaten in 13 matches and striving for promotion.

From team news to key men and the referee, all you need to know can be found below.

The manager

Colchester United head coach Hayden Mullins: “It’s key that I now know the players personally, as people and as players.

“It’s a good help and going into this run of games, you know their strengths and weaknesses.

“You also know them as individuals, character wise so it’s good to have seen that first-hand and now I have a chance as head coach to go and implement my tactics and my style of play with the players that I’ve worked with, all season.”

Key battle

Two of the oldest and most experienced goalkeepers in League Two will be at opposite ends, this lunchtime.

Colchester goalkeeper Dean Gerken, who is 36 next month, is the fourth oldest shot-stopper in the division.

He will be up against Bolton’s evergreen keeper Matt Gilks, who is 38 and the oldest keeper in League Two.

Last meeting

Colchester ran out 2-0 winners when the two sides met for the first-time ever at the JobServe Community Stadium, last September.

Goals from Tom Eastman and Jevani Brown sealed the U’s victory, in their first home game of the season.

Referee

Ollie Yates has presided over 24 games so far this season, in League One and League Two. He has issued 83 yellow cards and shown two red cards.

Team news

Colchester are set to welcome back winger Callum Harriott from international duty today.

The experienced attacker has missed the U’s last three games having been on international duty with Guyana.

But Kwame Poku, who made his Ghana debut earlier this week, is still unavailable.

Ryan Clampin is expected to be fit after suffering an ankle injury against Bradford City.

“Clamps is feeling better,” said U’s boss Mullins.

“He’s back in training, so we’ll have a look at him again but he feels a lot better.”

Probable U's side: Gerken, Tchamadeu, Eastman, Smith, Clampin, Stevenson, Wiredu, Pell, Senior, Harriott, Nouble.

Odds

Colchester are viewed at 17/4 to secure a precious win today. Bolton are 8/13 with some bookmakers, while the draw is seen as 14/5.
