COLCHESTER United have decided not to appeal Harry Pell's red card against Morecambe.

The U's skipper was shown a red card by referee Robert Lewis for violent conduct, after clashing with Shrimps full-back Ryan Cooney in the second half of his side's 3-0 loss at the Mazuma Stadium.

The incident followed Pell's challenge on Morecambe forward Adam Phillips, which angered some of the home players.

Colchester boss Steve Ball said after the match that he would review the footage of the incident before commenting further on what happened.

But the U's have now decided that they will not appeal the sending off.

Pell will now be suspended for Colchester's next three games.

The former Cheltenham Town midfielder will miss the U's trip to play Stevenage tomorrow night, along with their home clash with Scunthorpe United on Friday night and the visit to Salford City next Tuesday (February 2).

Pell had only just returned to match action, following an injury lay-off.

The 29-year-old started for the U's against Cambridge United and then Morecambe but now faces another spell on the sidelines.

The next match Pell will be available for will now be their trip to play Leyton Orient, on February 6.
