HARWICH and Parkeston tumbled to a 4-0 defeat at in-form Wivenhoe Town, in their latest Thurlow Nunn first division south match, writes COLIN ROGERS.
The Shrimpers should have taken an early lead but Matt Geen headed wide with a chance which he would normally gobble up.
Soon after Wivenhoe went in front when Jules Baven headed home a Ben Timson cross.
Harwich's central defender Elwen Lartey's excellent goalbound header brought a super save from the Wivenhoe goalkeeper, who tipped the ball over the crossbar.
The half-time interval came with Harwich a goal down but well in contention.
With an hour gone, the ball broke to Dean Merrett from a corner kick and he diverted it into the corner of the net for Wivenhoe's second goal.
Up against a quick, hard-working Wivenhoe team, Harwich faded and Merrett leaped highest from a Josh Chapman corner to make it 3-0 for Dragons. And Jack Mead then scored their fourth goal with a low strike after the ball had been squared across the goal area.
Wivenhoe, who now undefeated in their last six matches with five wins and a draw, move up to fourth place in the table following their win.
Harwich are away to Halstead Town on Saturday whilst the Reserves also travel to meet Dedham Old Boys Reserves.
