BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent Football Club are appealing to supporters for help to raise essential funds for pitch and stadium maintenance.

The Isthmian League Premier outfit have set up a gofundme page to generate cash for essential pitch and stadium maintenance, at their Taydal Stadium.

The club are hoping to raise £2,500 to cover the cost of materials and equipment to help to treat and maintain the pitch, along with other 'essential stadium maintenance'.

A club statement read: "Brightlingsea Regent FC is at the heart of the local community, proudly representing the town at a semi-professional level in the Isthmian League.

"We need your help to fund essential pitch and stadium maintenance that is required for whenever football resumes.

"We are aiming to raise £2,500 to cover the cost of materials and equipment for reseeding, fertilising, buying a new pitch white lining machine and other essential stadium maintenance.

"Club volunteers will carry out the work themselves as using an external company to do this work will cost considerably more, money we do not have following cancellation of the recent season.

"Next season our pitch will need to withstand up to two games per week across our men's, ladies and youth teams, around 40 matches per season.

"Our regular ground staff of Mick and Stitch do a great job keeping the pitch in excellent playing condition throughout the whole season, helped by match day supporters when the weather is bad.

"As a result we see very few matches cancelled due to poor ground conditions. However they can only do this if the pitch is refreshed every summer.

"Any contributions towards this scheme will be greatly appreciated by everyone that follows the Regent.

"We hope that everyone including our volunteers, supporters, players and the local community are keeping safe and well during these difficult times."

Regent have set up a JustGiving site where supporters can contribute to this cause.
