Kem Izzet feels Colchester United's excellent draw at Watford has provided the perfect retort to the critics.
The U's were in superb form at Vicarage Road to hold the Coca-Cola Championship leaders to an entertaining 2-2 draw.
A minority of the club's fans booed the Colchester players off following the 1-1 draw with Plymouth Argyle last week.
And Izzet, who produced an outstanding performance against the Hornets, believes the U's well and truly proved their point against a team that have lost only once at home all season.
He told the Gazette: "To go to a place like Watford and get a result is pleasing.
"A few questions have been asked by some of our fans of late but I think we answered them.
"From one to 11, it was a great performance by everyone."
Izzet played his part in helping Colchester battle back from the setback of conceding in only the second minute, in what was an eventful match.
Goals from Clive Platt and Kevin Lisbie turned the game on its head.
Although Marlon King salvaged a point for his side three minutes after goalkeeper Dean Gerken saved his penalty, the U's were worthy of their point.
"We might have won the game but they missed the penalty and Deano made a few great saves so a point is probably a fair result for us," said Izzet, who supplied the assists for both of the U's goals.
"They will probably look at the game and think that they deserved to win.
"But to go to a place like Vicarage Road and create the chances that we did was very good.
"We expected to be under pressure at some points in the game but I think we were worth our point."
Colchester now have a fortnight's break before their next Championship match, because of the international fixtures.
And according to Izzet, they will now prepare for their home clash with Crystal Palace on November 24 in bullish mood.
"The Watford result has given us a big boost going into the international break," added Izzet.
"We're three undefeated now, albeit three draws, but we'll build on it now and we'll take the positives."
