On a day when soggy conditions brought frustration for many in the Thurlow Nunn League, there was definite delight for Harwich & Parkeston.
Wet weather and waterlogged pitches brought a number of postponements across both tiers of the league, but the Shrimpers took full advantage of getting theirs on at the Gwinnell & Sons Royal Oak.
Sean Bartlett was on target twice and Matt Geen once in a victory against visiting Newbury Forest as a second 3-1 win in a row moved Harwich up to 11th in the division one south table.
The Shrimpers are now unbeaten in their last four division one south games.
Another division one south game beating the weather was at White Ensign where there was a 2-1 defeat for Coggeshall United, while Halstead Town stayed third after a goalless stalemate against fourth-placed Frenford on Friday night.
However, there was frustration at Holland FC as their scheduled home game against Little Oakley was one of those games called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Premier division games also suffered that fate and among the postponed fixtures were FC Clacton's home encounter with Kirkley & Pakefield and Stanway Rovers' trip to Haverhill Rovers.
Brantham Athletic did get their home game on in the top flight, but it was visiting Walsham le Willows who were most pleased about that as they left with a 2-1 win.
Harrison Bacon was on target for the Imps on his Brantham debut.
