ECHOSPORT talks to Oxford United supporter Dan Matthews ahead of tomorrow’s game at Roots Hall.

What have you made of the season so far?

“After a pretty underwhelming first month of the season, we have put together a remarkable run of 14 games without defeat in all competitions.

“Karl Robinson has built a squad that has been capable of progressing in all four competitions so far and has put us in a handy position going into the busy Christmas period.”

What were the expectations for this season?

“Realistically the expectations were reaching the play-offs before the season started.”

What are the hopes for the rest of the season?

“Although we have a nice distraction of a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester City, the main priority is mounting a push for automatic promotion.

“The club is in a great place both on and off the field at the moment and the momentum is building all around the club.”

Who would you say is the Oxford dangerman?

“The team is full of confidence at the moment, with dangermen all over the pitch.

“Matty Taylor and Tariqe Fosu are two of them.”

What’s the team news for the game this weekend?

“Amazingly, we have three or four key players still out injured so hopefully the free weekend last week has helped a few get back in contention to play.

“It’s anyone’s guess who will get picked but we will have to be at our best to win at a ground where we have struggled in recent years.”
