COLCHESTER United will assess the fitness of Luke Norris after he was forced off during the second half of their Carabao Cup triumph at Crawley Town due to injury.

The U’s leading goalscorer, who netted his side’s equaliser in their 3-1 victory at the Broadfield Stadium, limped off with a groin injury on the hour mark and was replaced by Callum Harriott as John McGreal’s side progressed to the last eight of the competition for the first time since 1974.

Norris, who has scored six goals for Colchester so far this season in all competitions, could be facing a battle to be fit.

And that could leave the U’s short of front men, with Theo Robinson currently serving a three-match suspension.

U’s boss McGreal said: “It didn’t look too good to be honest but it’s one that we’ll have to assess.

“We coped well when he went off and Noubs (Frank Nouble) went into the centre and we had Gams (Luke Gambin) and Callum Harriott off the bench.”
