COLCHESTER United will host League One outfit Coventry City in the FA Cup first round.

The U's will entertain the Sky Blues at the JobServe Community Stadium next month, after the draw was made at Maldon and Tiptree's Park Drive ground and screened live on BBC Two tonight.

Colchester beat Coventry the last time the two sides met when they won 2-1 in February, 2018 in a League Two clash.

If selected, midfielder Ben Stevenson will be facing the club where he started his career and made nearly 50 league and cup appearances.

Colchester will be hoping to secure their first win in the competition since they beat Charlton Athletic 2-1 in the third round, back in 2016.

But they will need to get past 1987 winners Coventry, who currently lie sixth in the League One table.

Elsewhere in the draw, Isthmian League division north leaders Maldon and Tiptree were handed a mouth-watering trip to play League Two side Leyton Orient.

Wayne Brown's in-form side, who have won all of their games so far this season, will travel to Brisbane Road hoping to cause an upset.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town were drawn at home against League One rivals Lincoln City in the draw, which was conducted by Karen Carney and Jermaine Beckford.

The outcome of Haringey Borough’s fourth qualifying round tie with Yeovil Town is yet to be decided after their match was abandoned, following reports of racial abuse by fans.

Due to Bury FC’s removal from the English Football League and the FA Cup, there was an odd number of clubs entering the draw with Chichester receiving a bye after being the last team pulled out of the hat.

The FA Cup first round is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday November 9, with £36,000 up for grabs for winning clubs.
