THE FA Cup first-round draw takes place tonight - with Colchester United set to discover their opponents.

The U's will be ball number 11 for the draw, which will be held at Maldon and Tiptree's Park Drive ground from 7pm and will be screened live on BBC Two.

Colchester will be hoping for a decent run in this season's competition, having already impressed in the Carabao Cup in the current campaign.

John McGreal's have reached the fourth-round tie of that competition and will battle it out with Crawley Town for a place in the quarter-finals, next Tuesday.

Tonight's FA Cup draw will be conducted by Karen Carney and Jermaine Beckford, with the U's one of the 47 clubs from League One and League Two joining the 41 remaining non-league teams in the competition.

The outcome of Haringey Borough’s fourth qualifying round tie with Yeovil Town is yet to be decided after their match was abandoned, following reports of racial abuse by fans.

Due to Bury FC’s removal from the English Football League and the FA Cup, there will be an odd number of clubs entering the draw.

Because of this, the final club left in the draw that is not drawn to play in a tie will receive an automatic bye to the second round.

They will also receive the prize fund payment for first-round winners.

The FA Cup first round is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday November 9, with £36,000 up for grabs for winning clubs.
