COLCHESTER United played out a 0-0 draw with Walsall at the JobServe Community Stadium.

The U's extended their unbeaten run to six matches with the point but it was a disappointing affair.

The Gazette's U's reporter Jonathan Waldron rates the players' performances, following the goal-less draw.

DEAN GERKEN 7

U's keeper saved Guthrie’s first-half effort and looked assured all afternoon

RYAN JACKSON 7

Went close early on with a low shot and was denied by Roberts late on

TOM EASTMAN 8

U’s man of the match. Continued his fine form with another fine display

LUKE PROSSER 8

U’s skipper defended competently and was especially commanding in the air

RYAN CLAMPIN 8

Continued his impressive form at left-back and was typically full of energy

BEN STEVENSON 7

Made his presence felt in midfield with some important interceptions and blocks

TOM LAPSLIE 7

Did well in what was his first start for nearly a month in the heart of the midfield

COURTNEY SENIOR 6

Worried the Walsall defence at times with his skill but not consistently enough

FRANK NOUBLE 6

Had his moment in the final third but did not have too many opportunities in front of goal

PARIS COWAN-HALL 6

Showed potential on his first U’s league start but faded in the second half and was replaced

LUKE NORRIS 6

Was twice denied by Roberts in the first half but had a few chances to break the deadlock

SUBSTITUTES

Tried hard to create opportunities as the clock ticked down

Did not get much of a sniff in front of goal on his U’s home debut

KWAME POKU (for Senior, 90)

Youngster looked bright and lively in the few minutes he was on the pitch
