COLCHESTER United new-boy Jevani Brown will rapidly become a fans' favourite at the JobServe Community Stadium.

That's the view of head coach John McGreal, who believes both supporters and his team-mates will love watching and playing alongside the former Cambridge United man.

Striker Brown penned a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee early last month.

And with the U's about to embark on their League Two campaign - they kick-off with a home match against Port Vale tomorrow (kick-off 3pm) - McGreal has sung the praises of the 24-year-old.

“I think we’re going to love the boy," he said.

“You can see already what type of play he’s going to bring.

“I know it’s pre-season and you don’t want to put too much extra pressure on him.

“But you can just see the different type of play he’s going to bring from what we had with Sammie Szmodics.

“It’s great for him to play in the second half and to see Paris (Cowan-Hall) come on.

“Jevani brings something different - we’ve watched him for a couple of years now and we know what he’s about.

“We know from chats with Joe Dunne when we played Cambridge and he’s a special talent.

“You can see that with the way the Cambridge fans were when he came to us.

“We’re hoping that he won’t just bring assists but also get in and around the box as well, to score the goals for us."
